SCIXO Privacy Policy
This policy covers the SCIXO Chrome Extension.
We built SCIXO to keep your AI conversations yours. This policy explains exactly what we collect, where it goes, and what we never do with it.
Last updated: April 11, 2026 · Version 1.0
Overview
SCIXO is a browser extension that captures your conversations from AI providers and syncs them to a backend server running locally on your own machine. Your data never leaves your device and never touches our servers.
Short version: Your conversations go from your browser to your computer.
What We Collect
The extension captures the following data while you use supported AI providers:
| Data Type | What It Is | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Conversation content | Your messages and AI responses | Core functionality |
| Provider name | Which AI service was used | Organization |
| Conversation ID | Internal provider identifier | Grouping messages |
| Timestamp | Date and time of each message | Sorting and history |
| Model name | AI model used (e.g. gpt-4) | Metadata |
We do not collect: your name, email, IP address, browsing history outside AI provider sites, or payment information.
How It Works
When you send or receive a message on a supported AI provider site, the extension reads the response inside your browser tab and extracts the conversation text. Nothing is sent to any external server at this point.
The captured text is then synced to a local backend server running on your own computer — a service you install and fully control.
Supported providers
ChatGPT · Claude · Gemini · Perplexity
Data Storage
Your data is stored in exactly two places, both on your own device:
-
Your browser (temporary storage, auto-deleted after 7 days) — a temporary buffer to ensure sync stability.
-
Your computer (the local backend app you run) — the permanent home for your data, under your physical control.
No cloud storage. We do not operate any remote database or cloud service. There is no SCIXO server that your data is sent to.
